The Schnalstaler Gletscherbahn is the highest cable car in South Tyrol. The cable car opens Hochjochferner in the Oetztal Alps and leads from Maso Corto (2,011 m asl) to the mountain station (3,212 m asl) just below the Grawand. The 1,201 meters of vertical drop is overcome in six minutes driving time.
Oi, I "break my teeth" trying to say Schnalstaler Gletscherbahn!
ReplyDeleteHow nice that they made a sculpture of those who built it. What an engineering feat.
Do your ears pop in those six minutes?
I love cable cars, but I have so few occasion to ride one... Nice sculpture too!
ReplyDeleteAnd what pretty views you get from up there!
ReplyDeleteWhat a magnificent wall of rock!
ReplyDeleteLove traveling by cable car. It is the easiest way to get up a mountain and provides spectacular views. The sculpture is great with the two figures on the edge. Excellent photos, as usual.
ReplyDeleteReminds me of why I didn't take the cable car to the top of the Zugspitze. :-)
ReplyDeleteDie Skulptur ist toll! Ich habe irgendwo gelesen, dass es in den Alpen schneit. Ist das wahr?
ReplyDeleteI can't even look! Heights!
ReplyDeleteWonderful images. I was last year like this, in Shweiz Alpen. And it was great.
ReplyDeleteThe last photo is lovely.
