A guide explains the history of the mine
If interested you can get more informations about this mine on wikipedia (in German language only), but you can easily translate the page with an online translator.
Well you certainly "mined" this site well... for photos of rust! It looks like a wonderful museum in a beautiful site.
ReplyDeleteI would love to visit this museum. There is something fascinating about living/working underground.
ReplyDeleteReminds me greatly of some of our mines in the desert southwest.
ReplyDeleteThat would be an interesting tour. You got some great photos here.
ReplyDeleteEnjoyed seeing your photos of this old mine. It was hard, dirty, dangerous work to mine minerals from the ground. Would like to see this museum, but doubt I could photograph it any better than you did.
ReplyDeleteThat's a great use for the old mine. I really like the surroundings.
ReplyDeleteA place I would really like to visit...
ReplyDeleteExcellent series of shots Karl, would be fascinating to visit.. being claustrophobic I can't even imagine what it would have been like to work down in these mines.
ReplyDeleteThis is a very interesting post. I'm impressed by the good condition of the mine equipment and I think it's wonderful it was made into a museum. Mining is extremely hard work. Your photos remind me of some of the old abandoned mines in the mountains of Colorado where our eldest daughter works. In fact, I wrote a poem about "The Ghosts of Mine Shaft #9" which you can read here:

Das würde mich unheimlich interessieren. Seit ich Bergwerke in Wales und Nordfrankreich besichtigt habe bin ich ein Fan geworden! Sehr schöne Fotos!
ReplyDeleteBoth this and the previous post are wonderful. What a great selection of rust!
ReplyDeleteI'd love to visit this mine. Meanwhile, thanks for the many photos.
ReplyDeleteWe owe brave miners a lot of thanks. Funny, that building that says Snow White and the 7 Dwarfs.
