Horse monument "Rossbändiger" (horse tamer) in Glurns / Glorenza.
This monument is in front of the entrance facade of the power plant "Glurns". It is a "horse tamer", which has managed to defeat the mighty forces of nature and use them for his purposes. Therefore this symbolizes the man who uses the overwhelming hydropower for electricity generation with the technology.
Interesting monument - naked dude with horses.
ReplyDeleteI've noticed the "mighty forces of nature" sometimes have run amok lately where I live. :-)
ReplyDeleteReally beautiful photos of this monument.
ReplyDeleteI like the old-fashioned allegory of this beautiful monument, and even more its incredibly spectacular location!
ReplyDeleteEven before I got to your explanation I was thinking, wow, there is a lot of POWER in this statue.
ReplyDeleteIt must be so nice to have hydropower, something my dry little country can only dream about.
That is a very powerful monument and perfect for it's location.
ReplyDeleteQuite a sculpture, Karl. The setting is amazing!
ReplyDeleteMan taming nature - sometimes, Karl!
ReplyDeleteI love the middle photo with the tiny church in the background.
ReplyDeleteA magnificent sculpture Karl and shown beautifully here with that awesome backdrop!
ReplyDeletePowerful sculpture, but the first thing that comes to mind is not hydroelectric power.
ReplyDeleteThat is a terrific statue, and a fine portrayal of man harnessing nature. I worked for an electric company and most of our artwork was showing off old turbines.
ReplyDeleteun bel monumento. Bellissima Glorenza. Ci sono appena stata. Sai ho fatto le vacanze a Tubre.
