Sparrows are always so active (well, I guess all birds are), and fun to watch. But you were lucky to be able to watch a couple in action. Notice how the female moves to the head of the line, even in the avian world? :)
She is taking advantage of free food while he does not believe there is ever "free lunch" so he is watching for the catch. Like this series a great deal. Fine portraits of humble sparrows.
Maybe he's providing protection. :-)
