Funiculì Funiculà

Why is this singer and musician wearing sunglasses and a white hat?
Because he is performing the famous Neapolitan song "Funiculì Funiculà".

He is accompanied by the music band of Welschnofen / Nova Levante.
Tomorrow I'll show you a few more photos of this band.

The famous Neapolitan song "Funiculì, Funiculà"  was composed in 1880. It was written to commemorate the opening of the first funicular cable car on Mount Vesuvius. If you like you can read the history and lyrics here.

"Funiculì, Funiculà" has been performed also by great singers such as Andrea Bocelli (here) or Luciano Pavarotti (here).
