In South Tyrol there is no village festival without Strauben !
The "Strauben" are served with powdered sugar and cranberry.

"Strauben" is it?! Yes, it does look like a big version of what I know from the American South as funnel cakes. There it is typical fair food.
Hi Karl, that looks just like the sort of food that I love, but should not eat. Were I closer to Bolzano I would be sorely tempted.
It looks very much like a cookie my mother used to make. The cookies were smaller but they looked the same.
i never eat this
i can test it
Strauben reminds me very much of a Swedish fried doughy treat covered with powdered sugar that she made, usually at Christmas, I think. Very, very good!
"Taken" has it right. It looks like great food, but not food that I should eat . . .
We call them funnel cakes and they are delicious!!! This one looks amazing.
