Horse monument in Glurns

Horse monument "Rossbändiger" (horse tamer) in Glurns / Glorenza.

This monument is in front of the entrance facade of the power plant "Glurns". It is a "horse tamer", which has managed to defeat the mighty forces of nature and use them for his purposes. Therefore this symbolizes the man who uses the overwhelming hydropower for electricity generation with the technology.

I've noticed the "mighty forces of nature" sometimes have run amok lately where I live. :-)

I like the old-fashioned allegory of this beautiful monument, and even more its incredibly spectacular location!

Even before I got to your explanation I was thinking, wow, there is a lot of POWER in this statue.
It must be so nice to have hydropower, something my dry little country can only dream about.

Powerful sculpture, but the first thing that comes to mind is not hydroelectric power.

That is a terrific statue, and a fine portrayal of man harnessing nature. I worked for an electric company and most of our artwork was showing off old turbines.
