Very pretty. Is this a border town that has a German name when it is part of Germany (or Austria or Switzerland) and an Italian name when the border shifts and it becomes part of Italy?

No no Jack, it is not a border town... the whole South Tyrol is a border region, so every town, city, village has at least two names, German and Italian, in a few cases also Ladin).
Bolzano is the northernmost province of Italy and borders with Austria and Switzerland.
