Painting on a house in Sëlva - Gardena Valley

Painting on a house in Sëlva / Wolkenstein / Selva Gardena - Gardena Valley

This post is linked to Monday Mural.

Chësta rujeneda (Poem in Ladin language by Roland Verra), read the translation below.

Chësta rujeneda ne à nia
paroles d'amor,
mé sasc turonc tla roes
de mi cuer.

Chësta rujeneda
ie stara de bruma
sun i prei de nuvëmber,
canche la jënt
va cufeda danjù
te fosc mantiei
dala culiria reguceda
y l di se spierd
sciche n durmient
te n sëmi deslinch...

L ie na rujeneda abreda,
massa vedla
per nosta puecia desëines de ani,
i jëuni ne la ntënd plu nia,
povester ai capì
tan grovia y tan meneda ju
che la ie per davëira...

Na rujeneda sciche n vedl camejot
de lëudn spëss
dut da chëut,
desmincià nzaul te na truga,
tl sutët dl passà,
plën de pientles y
de lecorc ncompri...

This language

This language
has no words of love,
but only round stones
in the quarry of my heart.

This language
is as stiff
as the icy fields
in November,
when people hurry,
bowed down in their cloaks
with turned-up collars,
like fearful dreamers
in their restless sleep...

It's a greedy language,
too old
for your few dozens of years,
young people don't understand it
anymore, maybe they feel
how raw and worn-out
it has become...

A language
like an old coat
of thick, dirty wool,
forgotten in a chest
somewhere in the attic,
full of useless stuff
and of awkward souvenirs...

  10. Karl, this painting is exceptionally well painted. Wouldn't you love to live in a house with a painting like this?
