May 2015 Theme Day: Revolution





The Pater Joachim Haspinger monument in St. Martin in Gsies, cast in bronze in 1959 at the commemoration to the "150 Years Tyrolean uprising in 1809" by sculptor Othmar Winkler.


Father Joachim Haspinger (1776 – 1858) was a Catholic priest and leader of the Tyrolese revolt against Napoleon.

Each 1st day of the month is "Theme Day" of the City Daily Photo Community.

An uprising against a foreign tyrant is a war of independence, not a revolution. This makes me like this statue even more!

Yes, historial figures like Napoleon generate revolutionary behavior on the part of many people, even clerics!!

Impressive sculpture! Here in Mexico Don Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla or simply Miguel Hidalgo, was a Mexican catholic priest and a leader of the Mexican War of Independence.
