Thanks Karl, I really enjoyed hearing Ladin for the first time. The Krampas men on the street are pretty scary, though. Take care tonight on Krampasnacht.
I was just reading how Krampas has suddenly become known and popular in America. There is even a new movie about him.
I'd hate to wake up in the morning and see HIM in the mirror.
Fun video, Karl. Thanks for sharing this. I enjoy so much seeing the celebrations of other cultures and countries. I did enjoy St. NIkolaus more than Krampas, though. The kids were so cute and all the costumes were beautiful.
Karl, this was a most interesting video. Ladin sounds a bit like German to me. I think I prefer Santa Claus. The Krampas men must make a big mess!
That was a most interesting video. I too enjoyed St. Nikolaus but, Krampas was just a bit scary to me and every so messy.

The Ladin language is nice, but the fact I didn't understand anything, a little reminiscent of the Swiss German. Do you speak Ladin?
It is good to see the old traditions kept alive. It is one of the things that is the divide between the 'Old World' i.e. Europe and the 'New World' like Australia and N.America.
The language has the general flow of Swiss-German yet is a lot softer. It is also encouraging to see an obviously limited population retaining their own languor within the larger while. We have the same in Latvia where there are around 20,00 Livs who wave retained their language with our hindrance from the rest of the population. Unfortunately the whole country, during the 60 years under Russian rule, was linguistically suppressed.
The language is very different to my ears. Krampus looks suitably demonic!
