Funiculì Funiculà

Why is this singer and musician wearing sunglasses and a white hat?
Because he is performing the famous Neapolitan song "Funiculì Funiculà".

He is accompanied by the music band of Welschnofen / Nova Levante.
Tomorrow I'll show you a few more photos of this band.

The famous Neapolitan song "Funiculì, Funiculà"  was composed in 1880. It was written to commemorate the opening of the first funicular cable car on Mount Vesuvius. If you like you can read the history and lyrics here.

"Funiculì, Funiculà" has been performed also by great singers such as Andrea Bocelli (here) or Luciano Pavarotti (here).

  1. I wish that I had been there to hear it.

  2. Ero a Napoli sabato sera! Certo, dev'essere curioso sentir cantare napoletano in cima al mondo :) ciao, Arianna

    1. Più che curioso è stato fantastico! Secondo me ha fatto un corso di canto a Napoli.

  3. He looks tres dapper in his white hat and sunglasses 😊 Super portrait shot Karl!

  4. I know that song! MY parents had a recording of it that they played when I was growing up.

  5. This must be one of the most well known Italian songs. The singer looks very stylish.

  6. Curious to see sunglasses with the traditional clothing.

  7. He is styling for sure! Wish I could have heard him perform.

  8. Looks like a great time for everyone, Karl!
