We live not so far from the German border and we see them there as well. We call them little Maria chapels.
...I would call it a shrine.

I think like Tom I would call it a shrine Karl, very pretty spot!
A Wayside Shrine....I believe.
Interesting small shrines along walking paths. The benches provide a place to rest and think religious thoughts.
They do look like little chapels. I always enjoy seeing them!
I would also call them shrines.
I think they would be small shrines too!
