The sheep are back - Transhumance in Schnalstal / Senales Valley.
Transhumance is a type of pastoralism or nomadism, a seasonal movement of livestock between fixed summer and winter pastures. In montane regions, it implies movement between higher pastures in summer and lower valleys in winter. (Wikipedia).

That last shot is my favourite.
I love that last pic too, Karl! What a wonderful face. And you gave me a new word!
Those sheep have such sweet faces, most photogenic.
Reminds me of my father's sheep-raising period. Sheep are always getting sick or something. So they were dipped or otherwise treated, and then marked with dye on their backs to indicate what for and who had been treated. I would love to know this color code!
And what adorable and happy sheep they are.
Wish I could be there to see it!!
How interesting to know about this time of year for the herds. Such personality comes through with the close up photos. Nicely captured :)
I am glad you joined us at 'My Corner of the World' this week!!
Sheep are such gentle creatures.
Love the photos!
