Perkeo is back !
The small man Perkeo (Pankert Clemens, or according to other sources, Giovanni Clementi) was born 1702 in Salurn and died around 1773/80. In about 1720, Prince Philip took an interest in Pankert, and brought him along to the Heidelberg Castle. Here he was initially court dwarf, then steward and butler.
Font: Wikipedia. In these days Perkeo came back to his hometown.
He got the keys of the city and was greeted and celebrated by the residents.

Great event AND great images!!:)
Thank you, Karl. For great entertainment. Beautiful pictures. You must have had so much fun!
:-) Dorthe
This look like a fun and crazy festival Karl...a perfect way to help you survive the rest of winter. Superb photos as always, and a great 'report'.
Looks like Perkeo is very happy to be back Karl haha! It seems that great fun is being had by one and all!
Wow, what a fun ride that was!! You have some great shots of all the activities. I certainly would have been a bit surprised if I had run into those vehicles on the road with no explanation of what was going on.
Omigod! What a party! What a festival. I can't say enough good things about your photos...they are perfect in every respect and so good that one feels like he/she was actually present.
You offer us a collection of photos today, to give us a complete flavor of the event. I saw Perkeo at Heidleberg Castle in December! Took his photograph, too.
I think it must be a fun celebration. For a minute I thought maybe you were in New Orleans at Mardi Gras!
Karl, I am making an exception to a statement I made earlier this week. I urge you to remove the verification requirement from your blog as I and many others out there in blogland have decided we will no longer comment on blogs which have these ridiculous phrases which are often nearly impossible to read. It is way too time consuming when you have to try over and over again. I removed it from my blog a year ago and I have not received one spam entry. You can put an owner moderation so the comments must be approved by you before appearing on your blog but I don't even think that is necessary. I hope I will be able to comment on your lovely site in the future. With best regards, Kathy.
Wow, this is really "something else"! It is new to me. Thanks for the great introduction to Perkeo.
Done! Many thanks Kathy for your notification, I could not remember that I had this setting on my blog.
You are right, the new word verification codes are almost impossible to read.
I was almost sure that you had him photographed in Heidelberg.
Great post! Love the portrait on top.
