I tried to translate, using online translator, but no luck. Whatever it means, they look like they are having a good time.
I don't have a perfect translation too,
but the meaning is more or less this:
My name is Bindergasse (cooper street?)
the mallet here resounded,
on vats, kegs and barrels,
many many years long.
Lovely vintage artwork Karl.
Thanks for the bit of translation above. I recognized something about a good year and I thought it might be a good year for wine since they seem to be dancing around a wine barrel.
Yes Sharon, this is a wine barrel, and they are the manufacturers of barrels, of course...
Very nice find! I like the old poem. :)
You always amaze me with these murals! This one is really great!
It looks quite whimsical, and I do like the style of the writing!
oh i love this!!
Another good one! I love the historical feel of it.
These remnants of bygone times are so wonderful to see. Thanks for contributing to this week's Monday Mural.
I'm not going to worry about what it means. The artwork and lettering are lovely.
What fun--both the artwork and the language.
When I started German in 1959 in Chicago public school our textbooks were still in the old and beautiful script. I'm sorry they stopped using it.
